Flights from Inverness, Edinburgh and Glasgow - to Stornoway (Isle of Lewis).
Domestic flights throughout the UK will get you to Inverness, Glasgow or Edinburgh, but the only flights to Stornoway are through Loganair
Flights are usually bookable up to one year in advance on their website.
All island ferries, and interisland ferries are run by CalMac.
Winter timetables for sailings 21/10/24 - 27/03/25 have been released and are available here. Bookings are live.
Summer timetables for 2025 are usually produced by the end of January of the year they are for (so, January 2025).
If you are coming directly from the Scottish mainland to the Isle of Lewis, then you will need to catch a ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway.
If you are coming from the Isle of Skye, then you will need the Uig (Skye) ferry to Tarbert (Isle of Harris).
If island hopping, then you can do it this way:
Oban - Castlebay (Isle of Barra)
Ardmhor (Barra) - Eriskay
Eriskay, South Uist, Benbecula, Grimsay, North Uist and Berneray are all then connected by causeways.
Berneray to Leverburgh (Isle of Harris)
Lewis and Harris are then one land mass.
There are long distances between all the places - don't forget you're coming to a rural island - so by far the easiest way to get around is by car.
If you prefer by bicycle, then we have secure bicycle storage at Snowberry Cottage. Bikes can be hired from BeSpoke Bicycles and Bike Hebrides on Lewis.
Car Hire is available from CarHire Hebrides, Stornoway Car Hire and Stornoway Vehicle Hire.
For those getting around by public transport, then all bus timetables can be found here and the timetable serving Snowberry is the W1 - we can send these in advance of your stay so please do not hesitate to ask!
It is vital that all transport to and and from the island, and any car hires, are booked well in advance of your journey.
While the islands are very busy between April and October, they can also be busy in the quieter months, so we do advise that to avoid disappointment, or to avoid penalty, please ensure all transports are booked before booking your accommodation.
We will not be held responsible for any charges incurred as a result of your failure to book transport in advance of booking with us.
We also strongly advise taking out travel insurance to cover you for any ferry or flight cancellations or delays, as we cannot be held responsible for these, nor any charges thus incurred.
