To determine whether Snowberry Cottage is accessible for your needs, here's a little more information on the layout.

Getting from the outside into the porch

There is a concrete pad between the front door and the gravel parking area, which it is possible to park right up to. 

The key safe on the outside of the property is forty two inches above ground level.

There is a thumb turn on the inside of the front door for locking purposes. The front door lock and thumb turn are forty three inches from ground level.

The Cottage is all on one level. There are small lips (as specified below, but no steps within the property).

The threshold into the property is no higher than two inches. 

The front door width is twenty eight inches.

The light switch for the porch and the outside light is fifty three inches from floor level.

Going from the porch into the lounge

The threshold between the porch and the lounge is one inch.

The widths of the internal doors for access purposes is twenty eight and a half inches.

The light switches in the lounge are fifty three inches from floor level.

The plugs which are accessible (at the height of the sofa) in the lounge are twenty eight inches from floor level, but accessible from the sofa.

The main bedroom (king size bed)

The threshold is one that is not quite level, but is rollover-able, with nothing sticking up.

The light switch is forty six inches from floor level.

There are plugs behind the headboard, but there is also an accessible plug which is twenty five inches from the floor. 

There are nineteen inches between the wall and the bed on either side of the bed.

There are forty two inches between the end of the bed and the chest of drawers.

The mattress is twenty five inches from floor level.

There is an accessible chest of drawers in the room. The wardrobe rail is fifty eight inches above floor level.

The bathroom

There is a motion sensor light in the hall between the two bedrooms and the toilet.

The light for the hall, bathroom and bathroom fan are outside the bathroom. These are fifty three inches above floor level.

The pull cord for the electric shower is already switched on for you.

In the bathroom, the shower is over the bath and at present we do not have a bath lift.  We do have a static bath stool as well as a rotating bath stool - both of which fit in the bath, and both of which can be left in the bathroom (wherever you would like) when requested. In this instance we would also leave a litter picker so you can control the shower, and we would leave the shower head dangling in the bath so it is easily accessible. Please just let us know. 

A non slip mat is always available in the bathroom for the bath/shower.

There are no grab rails on the toilet, but we do have ones that are portable which can be fitted to the toilet before your arrival, just let us know and we will ensure they are there prior to your stay.

There is a grab rail in the shower, however this is for someone standing in the shower, as opposed to getting out of the bath.

Bedroom two (two single beds)

There are plugs behind the beds, however there is also an accessible plug fourteen inches from the floor.

The light switch is fifty three inches from floor level.

The mattress on each bed is eighteen inches from floor level.

There is an accessible chest of drawers in the room. The wardrobe rail is fifty eight inches above floor level.

Kitchen

The light switch is fifty two inches from floor level.

There is an accessible plug next to the radio which is forty three inches from floor level.

All crockery and cutlery, pans, and kitchen items are in floor cupboards. Plates and dishes are not accessible from a wheelchair, but can be made so.

The kitchen counter is thirty seven inches from floor level.

The cooker hob is thirty five inches from floor level.

The dining chairs and dining stools do not have arms.

The fridge freezer is accessible from a wheelchair height.

Garden

The parking area is set to gravel.

To get to the garden you must go through the gravel parking area. 

The garden is enclosed, so you must go through the gate to access it.

The garden is mainly set to grass, with gravel paths.

There is a decking area, which is fifteen inches above ground. This is not enclosed.

There are two steps to get up to the decking area. The first is nine inches high, the second is five and a half inches high.

General

The internal  doors are standard sized doors, and for access purposes are twenty eight point five inches wide.

The windows are not accessible for a wheelchair user.

We provide emergency torches in both bedrooms and the porch. In the event of a power cut, these will automatically switch on.
